Land Clearing NWFrequently Ask Questions
What you need to know about forestry mulching?
The modern method of land clearing is called “forestry mulching,” and it involves the use of specialized machinery to pulverize brush and trees. In recent years, forestry mulching has become the normal practice for dealing with woody vegetation and debris. Because there is no need to burn or transport away debris, this kind of land clearing causes little disruption to the topsoil and the root systems of attractive trees. The use of bulldozers and excavators, both large and machinery-intensive, has been reduced as a result of forestry mulching. Soil erosion and compacting are common results of using these bigger, more powerful devices without the proper permits.
What sets forestry mulching apart from other forms of land clearing?
As a result, forestry mulching has become the most popular technique of land clearing because of its speed, ease, and low cost. Simply removing a few roots from the ground is usually sufficient. Mulching the trees and vegetation where they are and without moving the root systems greatly reduces the likelihood of soil erosion and its harmful impact on the surrounding environment. Because soil is the foundation for land, sowing, and planting, this is of the utmost importance. You may just leave the mulched material on the ground, and it will act as a protective barrier against erosion while also breaking down to restore the soil’s nutrients. This kind of land clearing also avoids several other processes, such as site preparation, cutting, falling, transport, and clearing. Forestry mulching reduces pollutants and saves money for consumers since it doesn’t need the use of as much heavy machinery. Overall, forestry mulching helps the customer save both time and money.
Why doesn't your website include prices, and what is the average price range for this?
Forestry mulching techniques may vary significantly from one area to the next. Some companies charge by the hour, while others charge per completed project. Land Clearing NW does not publish its prices online since each project is different. Before quoting a price, we thoroughly evaluate each project and show the client the space that has to be removed. By doing so, we can better understand the client’s needs.
What factors are taken into account while determining costs?
Some of the variables that determine the price are tree type, tree diameter, tree to brush ratio, acreage, terrain (steep regions, lots of rocks), and tree age (hardwood vs. cedar). etc
Do you need special licenses to operate?
There is no need for special permits. If you reside in a zone that is mandated to maintain its forestry preservation, you may need to verify that you can have a portion of the land cleared.
How many acres a day can be cleared?
When is the best time to have my land forestry mulched?
Anytime is a good time for forestry mulching and reclaiming your land. We work in all seasons. In the winter and spring when the foliage and leaves have fallen our visibility is clearer. This makes it a little easier on us as we can see what is on the ground. However, it doesn’t have an effect on our ability to forestry mulch in any season.
What type of equipment do you use?
We use Kubota Skid Steer SVL 97 and a top of the line Fecon mulching head that is outfitted with knives in the center and we have carbides on the outer portion of the drum. This gives us the best of both worlds, durability and a finer product for the customer.
What are some factors you use to determine cost?
How much does this typically cost ?
Are there any special permits needed?
How much does stump grinding usually cost?
The size and number of stumps determines the cost of stump grinding services. It is always best to have us measure your stump to give you a quote.
How long does it take to get rid of a tree stump?
Stump grinding can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, depending on how big the stump is. Colorado State University says that most tree roots are between 6 and 24 inches below the ground. Our team will get the job done on time.
Do you have a license and insurance?
Yes, we are fully licensed and insured for stump grinding services to make sure you are protected.
Do you remove wood chips?
When the job is done, our team of stump grinders rakes and cleans up the site so it looks good. As this is a professional stump-grinding business, we don’t haul away extra mulch for two reasons:
1. To compensate for the lost time grinding, we must charge as much as machine time.
2. We offer the best service and put all of our efforts into getting rid of as many stumps as possible in the most effective way.
What should I do to get ready for a stump grinding?
Before our stump grinding services, the work area needs to be free of rocks and other debris. If we miss any part of a stump, we’ll go back to the site and grind it again for free. But no part of a stump, including its roots, will be removed or covered by our re-grind protection program if it is covered by rocks or other debris or is too close to houses, fences, etc. at the time of removal.
What kind of equipment do we use?
We use a Bandit SG-75 that has a powerful Kohler diesel engine with 74 horsepower. This stump grinder has the most horsepower of any in its class. More power means grinding stumps faster, which saves time, and time is money. Bandit’s Super Sweep keeps users from taking too big of a cut and stopping the engine by automatically moving the cutter wheel away from a cut that is too aggressive. The SG-75’s rubber tracks can be extended to a length of 55 inches, which makes it a very stable platform for grinding. When the tracks are retracted, they are only 35 inches long, which is small enough to fit through most backyard gates. This means that this unit can clear a lot of land quickly, but it can also be used as a backyard grinder in a residential setting.
